Nowhere else in the world has the concept of Haydn's string quartet been more incorporated in the music culture of individual nations than in Central Europe. This piece became the most influential factor in Bartók’s instrumental music. It can mostly be perceived in his string quartets, in the rhythmical, dynamical and harmonic forms of traditional instrumental music, often very different from that of the western world. Dance, the world of organic, unique movements, which has been polished to perfection through centuries together with music, was made audible in his music.
Finetuning evolves from this organic, traditional movement culture. It speaks about such ordinary, visceral phenomena at an emotional, evocative level that modern man tends to simplify or see in black and white. The first movement of the piece presents the connection between music and dance, sound and movement, while the second movement addresses, among others, the topic of exclusion, hypocrisy and domestic violence without taboos.
The show is the iconic presentation of music through dance. The concert choreography, as a new theatrical genre, unfolds through the visualization of dance and movement alloyed with music. It talks about feelings, which are familiar to all of us and regarding which our souls could use a little fine-tuning from time to time.
Finetuning was first premiered at the Festivel Off d'Avignon in July 2016.

The band members are internationally renowned in the genre of world music, but they also perform in other genres. As members of a number of formations they have been dominant performers in the music scene in Hungary for years. Over the last four years this band has provided every Ifjú Szivek Dance Theatre performance with live music accompaniment, has given several full-length concerts and in 2012 released their first CD, titled Pozsonyi Táncok(Dances from Bratislava).
